What is Stainless Steel 304 Coil?
The greatest raw materials are used to produce SS coils. For cold work applications, SS 304 Coils, an alloy with 8% nickel and 18% chromium, are preferred. The coils’ qualities include stability of chemical properties, smooth surface finishing, cryogenic strength, ductility, and resistance to crevice corrosion. Compared to other varieties, stainless steel 304 coils have less carbon. It is an alloying substance that is suited for planned fabrications and resists rusting in all media. The welding and shaping capabilities are excellent. SUS 304 has a balanced austenitic composition that makes it exceedingly deep and lacks an intermediate ringing, making it the industry standard for drawn steel components like sinks, hollow items, and cups.

Corrosion Resistance of Stainless Steel 304 Coil
- SS 304 alloys’ resistance to moderately aggressive organic acids is due to the 9 to 11% nickel content of those alloys.
- The 304 alloys’ 18–19% chromium content confers resistance to corrosion in oxidizing conditions.
- The 304, 304L, and 304H are thought to function consistently in the majority of corrosive conditions.
Heat Resistance of Stainless Steel 304 Coil
- High oxidation resistance at 1700°F (927 °C) or higher
- It is not advised to use 304 continuously in the 800-1580°F range if water corrosion resistance is crucial.
- Excellent oxidation resistance in continuous usage up to 1690°F and intermittent service up to 1600°F.
